Michael J. Brosmith
Background…
Mike Brosmith grew up in West Hartford, CT and is the youngest of five children. As a child, he spent many summers at his family’s beach house on the Connecticut shoreline, an idyllic childhood, he says! Growing up, he also enjoyed boxing and was an avid wrestler through high school and college. At the age of 13 he got a summer job washing dishes in a restaurant. This job peaked Mike’s interest in cooking, and from dishwasher he moved to prep cook, line cook and eventually became head chef at a restaurant in Newport, RI. In 1990, Mike got into sales, which is a good fit for him because he’s definitely a people person. Thus, he got the opportunity to work for Stanley Hardware and moved to Atlanta. With Stanley Hardware, Mike managed the company’s nationwide Home Depot account and traveled the country extensively. In 1995 Mike got a job opportunity with Brainard Manufacturing Company, which brought him to Greensboro. He was Vice President of sales with Brainard until 2001, when he got laid off due to the economic downturn. It was at this point that Mike got into the mortgage business, and has loved it since day one.
A Company is Born…
February 1, 2006 was the beginning of the most exciting time in Mike’s professional life so far. On this day, Mike and his assistant (and now Marketing Manager) Brinley opened the doors of CFL Mortgage. CFL Mortgage was a vision Mike had from the very beginning of his career in the mortgage industry. The company is based on a strong commitment to customer service. This is an area in which the mortgage industry in general falls short on; Mike realized. He wanted to create a company that surpasses people’s expectations of customer service; to learn more about this, click here. So in addition to being a Certified Financial Planner, Mike's job includes helping Loan Officers transition into CFL Mortgage Consultants and of course, managing the branch. Although this keeps him very busy, he absolutely LOVES what he does for a living. He enjoys working with every member of the CFL team, watching loan officers turn into top CFL producers, helping people with their home financing, and most of all, keeping in touch with his clients.
At Home…
Apart from work, Mike enjoys cooking and entertaining for friends and family. He also loves to travel. He has backpacked all through Europe and has a passport full of stamps from his travels abroad.
Staying active and keeping fit is also an important part of Mike’s life. He runs daily, enjoys a good game of tennis when he can, and swims laps in the pool to cool off from the North Carolina summer heat!
Mike also has a love of dogs; chocolate labs in particular. In his adult life, Mike has enjoyed the companionship of three female labs. Bailey being the first, who was with him for almost five years when she got struck by a car. After she died, Mike immediately contacted her breeder and when Bailey’s parents had another litter, Mike flew out to pick up his new girl, Tia Marie. Tia was with Mike for 15 happy years before she passed on in July of 2006. In December of 2007 Mike was contacted about a rescue dog named Willow. Mike decided it was time to adopt, so Willow (who was approximately 3 yrs old at the time) came to live with Mike. Willow was saved from a life of being used as bait for pit bull fights, so she is now living a much happier and healthier life.
